Subscribers to PlayStation Plus Extra have something spine-chilling to look forward to. On October 21, Sony will add the acclaimed Silent Hill 2 remake to its game catalog exclusively for Extra and Premium members.

With Alan Wake 2 and Goat Simulator 3 already live this month, Sony isn’t slowing down. Now, another horror classic joins the list. Silent Hill 2 Remake arrives for Extra and Premium users, though Essential subscribers will miss out on this one.

This remake launched in October 2024 and quickly became a hit. Critics praised its faithful tone, modern visuals, and tightened gameplay, while fans flooded it with over 60,000 positive reviews on Steam.

Silent Hill 2 could be headed to Switch 2 as exclusivity nears its end

Silent Hill 2’s PS5/PC exclusivity ends this week, and new signs suggest a Switch 2 version could be on the way alongside Xbox Series X|S.

Not only was the remake a critical success, but it also crossed the 10 million units sold mark, making it one of the most commercially successful survival horror remakes in years.

Here’s what makes this version stand out:

It’s a faithful love letter to the 2001 classic, reimagined for current-gen hardware.

Interestingly, the Silent Hill 2 remake doesn’t currently support PS5 Pro enhancements. That could change soon, according to recent leaks. There’s also chatter about a potential DLC drop, though no official announcement has landed yet.

One major question remains: will Xbox players ever get this game? Some sources say an Xbox release is in the pipeline, while others insist it’s staying PlayStation-exclusive for the foreseeable future. For now, PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers have it first and for free.

This is another strong month for PlayStation Plus Extra, with a critically acclaimed horror title added just in time for Halloween. Between this, Alan Wake 2, and the usual lineup refresh, subscribers won’t be lacking for scares or content.

In the horror wars, Sony just claimed another head.
