New photos and videos have leaked of PlayStation Project Q, the handheld console announced by Sony at PlayStation Showcase 2023. The device, which will offer a remote gaming experience by connecting to PlayStation 5, features a DualSense-style controller.
PlayStation Project Q coming later this year
Developed in-house by Sony under the codename “Q Lite”, Project Q has a design reminiscent of the PlayStation 5 DualSense. In the center of the device is an 8-inch touchscreen LCD display. The controller also features haptic feedback buttons, a speaker and a headphone jack.
Sony first unveiled the handheld console at PlayStation Showcase 2023. Project Q will enable portable play of PS5 games. It will enable 1080p 60 FPS remote gaming from PlayStation 5.
According to new information, Project Q will have a battery life of 3-4 hours. Sony has not yet given a date, but said it will be unveiled towards the end of the year. The first claims are that it will hit the market in November.
The price of the device was leaked in Microsoft’s lawsuit during the Activision-Blizzard acquisition. According to the leaked information, Project Q will sell for less than $300, but Sony has yet to confirm the price.
It’s important to note that the handheld console won’t be a standalone device like the Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch. You will be able to mirror your PlayStation 5 games onto this console and play them from anywhere.
