Apple introduced the new iPhone 16 series on 9 September and released it recently. As with the new models released every year, the price of this year’s new series was highly discussed. In addition, repair costs were also much discussed. According to recent information, the repair of the iPhone 16 series is easier compared to its predecessors. Here are the details…
iPhone 16 series easier to repair
iFixit, which shares guides for repairing electronic products, announced that the iPhone 16 series is easier to repair than previous models. The team attributed this to three important changes and gave a higher repairability score compared to older models.
The first of the three major changes the team mentioned is hard cell batteries. This type of battery is less flammable and also more difficult to damage. This makes for a safer repair process during disassembly. The second important change is the new adhesive.
Apple uses a new adhesive in the iPhone 16 series that keeps the battery more robust and secure. This adhesive can be separated by passing a small electric current through it. This makes it easier to remove the battery.
The last important change is that the phone can be removed from the front or back. This makes it easier to access the hardware that needs to be repaired. In fact, this feature was available on the base models of the iPhone 14 series, but not on the Pro models. With the iPhone 16 series, it is now available on the Pro models.
The iFixit team gave the iPhone 16 series a repairable score of 7 out of 10. For comparison, this score is 4 out of 10 on the iPhone 15. Accordingly, it can be said that there is a serious change in the new phones.
