Apple TV announced today that its new drama, “Pluribus,” has become the most successful new series launch in the platform’s history. According to this report, via Deadline, renowned producer Vince Gilligan’s mysterious new production has captivated global audiences, breaking the record for the biggest global drama series launch for the streaming service. “Pluribus” even surpassed the viewership of the second season of “Severance,” which achieved the same success earlier this year.

According to Apple TV, “Pluribus” has been particularly popular in key markets such as the US, UK, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Germany, Mexico, India, and France. New episodes of the series continue to be released every Friday.

As is the platform’s customary policy, Apple is not sharing specific viewership figures for “Pluribus,” merely stating that it has set a new record for the service. Third-party viewership figures (Nielsen data) with more concrete data on the series’ performance are expected to be released in the next few weeks.

The first season of “Pluribus” consists of nine episodes. The season finale is scheduled to air on December 26th. The series’ ambitious success is evidenced by the fact that a second season is already in development. Apple had already granted the series a two-season green light when it acquired the rights in 2022, amidst fierce competition.

This success marks a strong end to 2025 for Apple TV (formerly Apple TV+). Having kicked off the year with explosive growth from the second season of “Severance,” the platform is now finishing the year on top with another sci-fi hit like “Pluribus.” The service is also aiming for another significant increase in viewership with the December 12th release of “F1: The Movie.”
