Polestar, the electric car venture of Volvo and Geely, has accelerated its efforts for its first smartphone. The model expected to be named Polestar Phone recently appeared on Google Play Console. So, what does the smartphone promise?
Official confirmation: Polestar Phone developed by Meizu is on its way
Polestar has started to focus on the smartphone it developed in collaboration with Meizu. The listing on Google Play Console indicates that the device will be Android-based and support Google services. The device will use Meizu’s interface, Flyme OS.
Plans for the phone were first announced last fall. Polestar, which organized a launch event showing design details, said it collaborated with Meizu for its first model, Phone 1.
The Google listing also confirms that the official name of the device is “Polestar Phone” and no model number has been added yet. The features of Phone 1 are unclear, but it seems likely to offer full compatibility with Polestar’s electric cars.
Previous leaks indicated that it would come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Gen 2 processor. The device is expected to be unveiled next month and initially launched in the Chinese market.
Polestar is primarily a brand that produces electric cars for the Chinese market. However, the company also aims to make its presence felt in Europe with models like Polestar 4 in recent times. We’ll see when the first phone and electric vehicle will enter our country over time.
