Poloptech, a Polat Group company founded with 100% domestic capital and producing advanced optical solutions, has completed another critical project within Turkey’s Lunar Research Program. A contract has been signed for the development of an Image-Aided Navigation System, which will provide safe and precise guidance on the lunar surface, in collaboration with TÜBİTAK SPACE.
The hardware provided by Poloptech will be combined with software and algorithms developed by TÜBİTAK SPACE and integrated into space missions. The system is positioned as a cutting-edge solution that will undertake guidance and positioning tasks, particularly in challenging conditions on the lunar surface.
The signing ceremony for the Image-Aided Navigation System development was attended by the Minister of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey, Mehmet Fatih Kacır; the Governor of Istanbul, Davut Gül; the President of the Turkish Space Agency, Yusuf Kıraç; the President of TÜBİTAK, Prof. Dr. Orhan Aydın; the Director of the TÜBİTAK SPACE Institute, Mehmet Nefes; and Poloptech CTO, Dr. Özgür Selimoğlu.
Speaking at the ceremony, Poloptech CTO Dr. Özgür Selimoğlu expressed his excitement about participating in Turkey’s space journey: “We are developing our broad product range and engineering capabilities to meet the needs of fields where optical technologies are becoming increasingly critical. It is a source of pride to be a part of Turkey’s window to space with our national technology. Our strategic partnerships propel us forward both nationally and internationally.”
Poloptech, which designs space-resistant lenses and highly reliable electronic systems, aims to increase Turkey’s contribution to the space ecosystem through projects such as the Lunar Research Program. This strategic partnership represents a significant step that demonstrates both the advancement of our national technology and its global competitiveness.
