Porsche files patent for 6-stroke ICE design

In a period when electric vehicles are rapidly on the rise, Porsche has caused excitement in the automotive sector by showing that internal combustion engines still have innovation potential. The company challenges traditional engine systems with its 6-stroke engine design. The new engine technology will increase the performance and efficiency of internal combustion engines. Traditional 4-stroke engines consist of intake, compression, power and exhaust phases. However, Porsche’s new design adds two more phases to this cycle: additional compression and additional power phases. Porsche will increase fuel efficiency and produce more power .

This innovative engine is powered by a completely new crankshaft design . The crankshaft is designed to rotate on two concentric rings, optimizing the movements of the piston.
