Qi2 to allow iPhones to charge wirelessly, like wired ones

Ana sayfa / News

Wireless charging technology is entering a new phase with a significant power increase. Previously known as “Qi2.2,” the new technology will now be available under the Qi2 25W brand. This development represents a speed increase of approximately 70% over the current 15W Qi2 standard, allowing users to charge their devices significantly faster.

iPhones compatible with Apple’s MagSafe technology could currently only charge wirelessly at a maximum of 15W with third-party charging accessories. While Apple offered 25W MagSafe charging in the iPhone 16 series with its own 30W adapter, this was limited to Apple’s own ecosystem.

With the announcement of the Qi2 25W standard, this situation is changing. Third-party accessory manufacturers will now be able to develop products that support 25W charging. While the WPC hasn’t specifically announced which iPhone models will support this standard, expectations are quite high:

WPC Chairman Fady Mishriki stated, “The momentum behind the next phase of the Qi standard’s evolution is incredible. Consumers will be thrilled to experience Qi2 25W, which delivers nearly 70% more power than the original Qi2. The number of devices in the certification queue and the quality of our members’ product designs are unprecedented.”

This new standard doesn’t just offer increased speed; it also brings improvements such as stronger magnetic alignment and increased charging efficiency. The Android ecosystem, especially Samsung’s flagship models, is expected to quickly adopt this new technology.
