Qualcomm has finally unveiled its line of processors targeting Windows PCs. The company, which has been releasing chips under the Snapdragon 8cx brand since 2018, will now use the Snapdragon X series name. So what does the new X series promise?
How powerful is the Snapdragon X Series?
New information provided by Qualcomm revealed the Snapdragon X series name. The hardware giant said it can more easily distinguish between chipsets for devices such as smartphones and tablets. He stated that the X series will be special processors for computers.
The new X series is built on the Orion core, which Qualcomm says will create a leap in performance and efficiency. Paired with Qualcomm’s neural processing unit (NPU), Oryon cores will enable on-device artificial intelligence.
Qualcomm is also planning to change the iconic Snapdragon logo for the X series. Covering the fireball-shaped logo with gold colors, the company stated that it will be much bolder and more vibrant. In addition, this logo will highlight the brand for computers.
For those who don’t know, Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3, which is 60 percent more powerful than Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2, hit the shelves late last year. Qualcomm will announce its plans for the new X series on October 24-26.
The company’s new processors are manufactured with TSMC’s 3 nm technology. In this way, processors that are expected to be more efficient and performant can disrupt the balance in the computer market. In this way, up to 20 hours of usage time can be obtained from laptops.
