Qualcomm has officially entered the Windows PC market with the Snapdragon X family. Partnering with major manufacturers, the company also wants to appeal to the middle class. Accordingly, it was reported that more affordable Snapdragon X processors are under development.
Snapdragon X processors will be cheaper
Qualcomm is looking to expand in the PC market controlled by Intel and AMD, according to a new report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The company aims to lower the cost of Windows PCs with its affordable Snapdragon X processors.
Qualcomm recently unveiled the Snapdragon processors. The computers that will be powered by these processors will be shipped in the summer. Manufacturers such as Microsoft, Dell, HP and Lenovo will offer Snapdragon processors with the Copilot+ PC platform.
Kuo predicted that the number of computers with Snapdragon X processors will reach 2 million units by the end of the year thanks to partnerships with major manufacturers. Shipments are also expected to increase by 100-200 percent in 2025.
Allegedly, Qualcomm’s goals are bigger. The analyst claimed that it is working on more affordable versions of the Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus processors. The processors are expected to increase competition, especially in the mid-range PC segment, where AMD Ryzen is present.
Kuo reported that Qualcomm will launch a new processor codenamed Canim in late 2025. Built on TSMC’s 5nm node, Canim will be priced between 599-799 dollars. Currently, the cheapest Snapdragon computer starts at $999.
