Qualcomm, which wants to grow in the computer market, may be preparing to acquire some of its giant rival’s teams. According to the latest claims, Qualcomm is examining chip design teams at Intel. Intel is looking to solve its financial difficulties by divesting some of its teams.

Qualcomm is looking to acquire parts of Intel’s design portfolio, according to the latest rumors. The company, which started developing computer processors with the Snapdragon X series, plans to take advantage of Intel’s PC chip designs.

Qualcomm executives have allegedly been examining Intel’s various design units for months and are interested in acquiring the company’s PC operations. This division, which produces laptop and desktop chips, suffered an 8 percent revenue loss last year as the PC market weakened.

Huawei overtakes Apple and Samsung

Huawei became the leader in the wearable technology market in the last quarter. Accordingly, it overtook Apple, Xiaomi and Samsung.

Intel, on the other hand, is experiencing financial difficulties in the face of production difficulties and market downturns. The company announced its second quarter results last week and announced plans to cut 15 percent of its workforce. Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger is considering various options, including the sale of subsidiary Altera.

Qualcomm, on the other hand, is trying to go beyond smartphones. Accordingly, it wants to seize opportunities in markets such as PCs and data centers. Of course, Intel could also acquire server processor operations, sources said.

Intel has previously said it is “deeply committed” to computer processors and has indicated it will not downsize operations. But the financial pressures it faces could lead to a possible collaboration with Qualcomm.
