Samsung and Qualcomm have had a long-term partnership for years. With the new multi-year partnership, we will see Snapdragon processors in Galaxy S23 series all over the world. There won’t be any Exynos models on this series. Only Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be used in Samsung Galaxy S23. Here are all the details…
Snapdragon will power Samsung Galaxy S23 series
Qualcomm confirms that the company will likely be the exclusive Galaxy S23 series processor supplier with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. It does not mean that Samsung will no longer use Exynos for its phones. According to the last information, Samsung may pass the year without a new Exynos, but it can introduce a more powerful chipset in 2024.
Qualcomm and Samsung could sign a new chip supply agreement for another seven years until 2030. Qualcomm’s CEO said, “This validates that Snapdragon is the technology platform of choice for premium Android experiences. In addition to Galaxy smartphones, the agreement includes PCs, tablets, extended reality, and more. We have also agreed to a seven-year extension of our patent license agreement with Samsung, taking the license through the end of 2030 with the same royalty terms. The extension encompasses 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies and devices and will include future 6G standards and products”.
Although Exynos processors are famous in other regions, Snapdragon chips are most popular in the United States, South Korea, and some other locations. However, Samsung will also end up with its Exynos in many parts of Europe and Asia.
Qualcomm’s Ceo also pointed out that the Snapdragon 8-series is just a start for other Samsung devices. We could see its chipsets on all Samsung’s mobile devices in the future. He added, “And what I can say at this point is we were 75% on Galaxy S22 before the agreement. You should be thinking about we’re going to be much better than that on Galaxy S23 and beyond”.
