Rockstar Games, though still a highly respected company in the gaming world, has disappointed players with their strategy concerning GTA 5. Over the past 12 years, the game has been released on nearly every possible platform, including calculators. Now, it seems Rockstar is planning to apply the same strategy to Red Dead Redemption 2.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to PS5 soon
The mention of “Red Dead Redemption PS5/Switch” on company production coordinator Emma Anderson’s LinkedIn profile caused a stir in the gaming world. Last year, Rockstar released the original Red Dead Redemption for PS4 and Switch, and later added 60 FPS support for PS5. Naturally, this leads to speculation that a next-gen version of RDR2 might be in the works.
As you may recall, internal communications at Microsoft previously hinted that a next-gen version of RDR2 was in development, though rumors later suggested the project had been canceled. Given that Anderson joined Rockstar in June 2023, this timing is quite intriguing.
So, what exactly does this development indicate? There are two possibilities: Either Anderson is referring to the existing RDR1 PS5 update (which seems unlikely, as the game already received 60 FPS support), or Rockstar has restarted work on a PS5 version of RDR2, possibly with plans to take advantage of the upcoming PS5 Pro’s enhanced capabilities.
Rockstar Games, which released GTA 5 on nearly every platform to mixed reactions, seems poised to take a similar approach with RDR2. However, considering the advanced hardware of the PS5, this time around the end product could be technically impressive.
