A Red Dead Redemption 2 fan managed to run the game on his mobile device. Although he had to lower the graphics a lot, the fan managed to run Red Dead Redemption 2 on Red Magic 9 Pro.
This is what Red Dead Redemption 2 looks like on mobile
YouTuber Serg Pavlov has shared a video showing Red Dead Redemption 2’s performance on mobile devices. But it’s not a great experience, just so you know. The game’s low frame rate, choppy audio, and overall poor performance suggest that the days of actually seeing this game on mobile are far away.
But it makes for an intriguing test of the limits of mobile devices to run big, graphics-rich games.
The video shows Red Dead Redemption 2’s main character, Arthur Morgan, going about quiet activities such as wandering through towns and crossing vast fields on horseback. Even these activities cause the game to lag a lot. Still, it’s exciting that such a large and detailed world of the game can be ported to mobile devices.
Serg Pavlov’s device running Red Dead Redemption 2 is the Red Magic 9 Pro. It has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and 12 GB of RAM. The phone with 256 GB storage runs on Android 14 operating system.
Pavlov used external cooling to prevent the game running at 960×540 resolution from burning the hardware of the phone. In addition, in order for the game to run on the Adreno 750 GPU, a ‘trashed’ version of the game’s graphics with mods was used.
The ability to run Red Dead Redemption 2 on mobile devices could be a turning point in the mobile gaming world. The fact that such big productions can be played on mobile platforms shows how far the boundaries in the gaming industry can go.
Developments in mobile gaming are not limited to Red Dead Redemption 2. The fact that big titles such as Death Stranding and Resident Evil Village have become playable on iOS devices seems to have enriched the mobile gaming experience even more.
