Artificial intelligence is increasingly being used in various fields and continuing to enter our lives. While we may not be very familiar with it on social media, AI is starting to become more effective in this area as well. With recent announcements from Reddit, the AI translation feature has been added to the platform, allowing users to share content in different languages. Here are the details…
Reddit’s AI Translation Feature Connects Different Languages
Earlier this year, Reddit released a machine translation tool for users in France, and now, with the recent announcements, it has been globally launched for more users. The new AI translation feature can convert all Reddit content into the preferred language. It is already available in 35 countries, including Spain, Brazil, and Germany, and has been enabled in web browsers, apps, and desktops.
Users can translate content within a community by using the “Translate” button found in the dropdown menu in the top right corner, allowing them to read all content, including comments, in their preferred language. Even if you don’t know the language, you can participate in discussions without dealing with other translation apps, thanks to the in-app AI translation.
When someone shares a post or comment in their own language, it will automatically be translated into the community’s language, making it comprehensible and facilitating easier interaction. Additionally, it has been announced that in the coming weeks, a “Translated Post” label will be added, along with an option to view the original language.
Aiming to enhance engagement, Reddit will also ensure that translated content is visible in search engines, helping to discover content and reach more users. In other news, it has emerged that Reddit is working on an AI summarization feature.
