Reddit, which boasts a vast user base, is among the world’s most popular social media applications, and it has finally introduced the Translation feature that already exists on rival platforms. This innovation will enable you to understand posts in foreign languages by translating them into your own.
Translation Feature Added to Reddit
Reddit hosts millions of users from all over the world, signifying that the platform is used in a multitude of languages. Naturally, this makes it challenging for users who do not understand the language of a post to comprehend what is being said. Some platforms like Twitter had already introduced the Translation feature to address this need, but Reddit has only just implemented it.
According to an announcement made through the company’s official channel on Reddit, the ability to translate posts into your own language has been added to the Android, iOS, and web versions. However, for web users, it is necessary to be logged out to use this feature.
Reportedly, at present, only eight languages can be translated. These languages include English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, and Swedish. While it is expected that more languages, will be supported in the future, it is noted that Google Translate is being used for the translations.
To use the translate feature, you simply need to click on the “Translate” button located at the top left of a post. According to the announcement, the translation feature is currently limited to posts, but it will soon expand to include comments as well. This feature is currently being tested, and some Android and iOS users can access it. Therefore, it’s a good idea to check if you have received a new update for the app.
Additionally, Reddit discussed various other topics in the announcement, one of which was the removal of coins. The deadline for this is reported to be September 12, 2023. The platform has reminded users to spend their existing coins.
