Xiaomi just dropped the Redmi Note 15 in China without the usual fanfare, but it’s a serious spec bump over last year’s model, and it’s priced to move.

This new version is slightly taller and lighter than the Note 14, now measuring 164 mm in height and dropping to 178 g in weight. The extra room allowed Xiaomi to fit in a 6.77-inch OLED screen pushing out 1080p at 120 Hz. The real surprise? A blinding peak brightness of 3,200 nits, making it one of the brightest panels in its class.

The phone’s battery also gets a bump, growing from 5,110 mAh to 5,800 mAh. Charging remains capped at 45 W wired, but most users won’t mind when they’re getting more endurance out of a single charge.

Under the hood, the MediaTek chip is gone. Instead, Xiaomi opted for the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, which brings an estimated 18% performance boost over last year’s hardware. For the camera, Xiaomi switched to the Light Hunter 400 sensor. While this move could reduce overall image quality versus the Note 14’s Sony LYT-600, real-world results will tell the full story.

Xiaomi is launching the device in three colors: Azure Blue, Midnight is Dark, and Starlight White. Storage and RAM options include:

International details are still under wraps, but leaks suggest the device will land outside China as the Redmi Note 15 5G. If pricing holds and performance checks out, Xiaomi might have another budget hit on its hands.
