Xiaomi, one of the world’s largest smartphone brands, is known for its software support for its own models, making it one of the standout brands in this regard. The latest example of this was seen recently. In fact, Xiaomi has resumed support for the Redmi Note 9 Pro model for which it had discontinued update support.

Good news: Redmi Note 9 Pro continues to receive update support!

Xiaomi compiles a list called the EOS List on a webpage, including all models from both its own brand and sub-brands that have had support discontinued. Users can find out whether their phones will receive updates from this list.

Recently, Xiaomi updated the aforementioned EOS list and added the Redmi Note 9 Pro model, which is quite popular in Turkey. This, however, saddened users as it implied that the device would no longer receive Android and security updates.

Xiaomi starts rolling out Android 14 beta-based stable MIUI 14

Stable MIUI 14 updates based on Android 14 Beta are now available for the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro. Here's the detail.

Surprisingly, Xiaomi then removed the Redmi Note 9 Pro model from the EOS list. This decision delighted users, indicating that software update support for the model will resume.

The smartphone, which comes with Android 10-based MIUI 11 out of the box, can be upgraded from Android 12, and users are eagerly awaiting news about whether it will receive updates to a new Android version. Although the brand didn’t specify the reason for this change of heart, the motive is clear: to maintain its position in the smartphone market and keep its users satisfied.

It’s evident that Xiaomi is trying various strategies to sustain user satisfaction. Many users are curious whether their own discontinued phones will also be removed from the list or not. At this point, all eyes are on Xiaomi.

So, what are your thoughts on this matter? Do you think Xiaomi will start providing updates again for some models it had discontinued support for? Feel free to share your opinions with us in the Comments section below.
