Google has updated its “Results about you” tool
Google has updated its “Results about you” tool, which makes it easier to remove personal information from search results. Now, users can track whether this information appears in search results by specifying their names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses.
The tool, which was previously only accessible through the Google app, has now been integrated directly into the Google Search page. Users can use the three-dot menu next to the results to remove information from search results and click the “Remove this result” option.
Google offers three different options for removing personal information:
- Personal information removal requests – Doxxing (name, address, phone number, email, workplace information, etc.) covers the unauthorized sharing of your information.
- Legal content removal requests – Allows you to report copyright infringement or illegal content on pages.
- Refresh updated information – Even if your information has been removed from a website, it may still appear on Google in its old form. With this option, Google will recrawl the relevant page and reflect the updated information.
This feature is currently available in the US, UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, France, Sweden, Thailand, India, and Indonesia. Google plans to expand it to more countries in the future.
