Rivian, one of Tesla’s biggest competitors in the US, unveiled its newest electric SUV model today. Called Rivian R2, the vehicle draws attention with its design and powerful engine. R2, which is planned to enter production in 2026; aims to be an affordable electric.

The starting price of Rivian R2 was announced as 47 thousand dollars. This means that it is significantly cheaper than the company’s truck and SUV options, which start around 70 thousand dollars. It was also stated that it can be purchased for up to 40 thousand dollars thanks to tax breaks in the USA.
Rivian stated that the R2 will offer a range of up to 530 km on a single charge. Among its performance features, the 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 3 seconds stands out. R2 is about 4.5 meters long; slightly shorter than the Tesla Model Y.
According to the company, it will have a “very large” front trunk. This means that it will offer ample cargo space despite its affordable price.
With this model, Rivian wants to turn profitable again. The company, which faced financial difficulties last year with a loss of over 5 billion dollars, has turned to more affordable options. The R2 puts Rivian in competition with big brands that are making the transition to electric vehicles.
