Ana sayfa / News

Guilded has blocked access to users in Russia. This move came after the popular chat app Discord was banned in the country. According to Russian sources, Guilded has recently stopped providing service in Russia.

The platform administrators made this decision due to the increase in the number of Russian users after Discord was banned. Discord officially announced that it was blocked in Russia on October 8. Russian authorities stated that they made this decision because the platform administrators did not comply with Russian law.

Regulatory authority Roskomnadzor requested Discord to remove approximately 900 pieces of allegedly illegal content, but the request was not fulfilled. Discord was also fined in the country last year, but the company did not change its policies.

Guilded, on the other hand, stated that instead of risking being blocked like Discord, it cut off access to Russia. This blocking is also notable as another platform that limits the country’s tightly controlled internet services. It is also thought that Guilded will open an office in Russia and regulate its content policies.

It should be noted that Turkey also blocked access to Discord after Russia. The company said, “We are aware of reports that Discord cannot be accessed in Russia and Turkey. Our team is currently investigating these reports.”

Regarding Discord, Turkish Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç said, “Due to sufficient suspicion that the crimes of “child sexual abuse and obscenity” are being committed, a decision has been made to remove all publications from the content and block access to the specified URL addresses from Turkey.”
