Samsung has announced a partnership with Turkish Airlines (THY), launching a new era to help easily locate lost or delayed luggage. This partnership is made possible through the Samsung Find app and the Galaxy SmartTag location tracking device. Passengers can now easily track their valuables by sharing their luggage’s tracking link with the airline.
Smart Tagged Baggage Service Officially Launched
Samsung and Turkish Airlines have launched the Smart Tagged Baggage Service, allowing Turkish Airlines passengers to easily track lost or delayed luggage using the Galaxy SmartTag and SmartThings Find service.
Samsung’s object location tracker uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Ultra-Wideband (UWB), and a network of over 700 million Galaxy devices worldwide to locate and track phones, tablets, smartwatches, Galaxy Buds, and Galaxy SmartTags.
When passengers share the location tracking link they generate from the Samsung Find app with Turkish Airlines, the airline can more efficiently recover and return Galaxy SmartTag-equipped luggage to its owner.
Passengers can also upload a photo of their actual luggage using the app’s “Change Device Picture” feature. This greatly simplifies the process of finding and matching items with airline officials.
Samsung plans to expand this program and collaborate with other airlines globally. Turkish Airlines aims to develop a long-term partnership with Samsung to expand the use of SmartThings Find beyond baggage management and enhance the customer experience through artificial intelligence and other software solutions.
