Samsung announces repair mode for customer protection

Ana sayfa / Smartphones

This new feature, “Samsung Repair Mode,” focuses on making people’s lives easier. The features currently only available in the Samsung Galaxy S21 series focuses directly on the phone repair process.

Repair Mode’ will keep sensitive data safe while your phone being serviced

There is always a data concern on phones that are given for repair. The “Samsung Repair Mode,” which was brought to eliminate this, completely hides all data (Photos, messages, account information, and applications) on the phone when activated.

If this mode is activated, the service worker cannot access your personal information when they pick up the phone. It only provides access to a stock phone for testing. When the owner turns off Samsung Repair Mode, all data and settings are retained, so there are no privacy concerns. Repair Mode can be turned on and off directly with biometric data. It is expected that Samsung will bring this feature to other phones later, but there is no explanation yet.

Samsung is currently making other significant steps in software, with the focus here being Android 13 + One UI 5. The beta of the version was launched last week. This early beta version, which is still not open to public testing, may have some changes in the final stage, but overall it paints a picture. According to what is obtained from this version, the notification screen sees a minor makeover with One UI 5. The company has also updated its transparency settings.

Android 13 + One UI 5, which brings together all account security, privacy, and password protection processors through the “Security and Privacy Center,” does not provide a feature that has not been offered before. It seems like all the old features are grouped for easier access.
