Samsung brought artificial intelligence, which marked the year 2023, to S24 models with the Galaxy Unpacked 2024 launch. Galaxy AI features are initially included in S24, S24 Plus, S24 Ultra models. However, Samsung announced that artificial intelligence features will also come to S23, S23 Plus, S23 Ultra, S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 models. The joy of S22 owners who see the S23 FE model in the list is disappointed.
Will Samsung Galaxy AI features only come to 2023 models?
Patrick Chomet, the company’s Head of Customer Experience, announced that Samsung will not bring Galaxy AI to any 2022 model smartphones for now. In other words, Samsung artificial intelligence feature Galaxy AI will appear with 2023 models, at least for now.
One of the interesting details is that Galaxy AI is not coming to the S22, S22 Plus and S22 Ultra models. Samsung will offer artificial intelligence support to the Galaxy S23 FE model, although the calendar is not clear. However, the S22 series, which has the same processor as this mid-high-end phone, will not have Galaxy AI artificial intelligence features.
Samsung’s initial Galaxy AI plans, at least, do not include the S22 series. After that, it is also unclear whether Galaxy AI features will come to the S22 models. According to Chomet, the team is working hard to bring Galaxy AI to the already announced models.
Here, it was also criticized why these features did not come to a model that has the same processor and is higher than FE in terms of hardware. Patrick Chomet defended this limited update as follows:
“Over time, we want to ensure that our AI experiences can be underpinned by mobile performance that leads to CPU and GPU capacity. We know Galaxy AI works well on the Galaxy S24 series and we know it will work well on the Galaxy S23 series. But we don’t know what the intensity of AI usage will be for the average customer and therefore how that intensity will impact on-device resources and cloud resources.”
In this sense, Samsung has not yet closed the Galaxy AI door for the S22 series. However, as you know, Galaxy AI will provide free service until 2025. In this sense, Samsung artificial intelligence features will not only work on the cloud but also on the device in hardware. In this sense, it is also unknown what impact Galaxy AI will have on hardware and cloud service. In short, if Samsung can manage to carry this burden, Galaxy AI features will appear in more models.
