Samsung releases a new security update for the Galaxy S20

Samsung is working on its Galaxy devices to get the latest software update, Android 13. The phone manufacturer released the latest software update to several Galaxy devices. While the company updated the Galaxy S20 series of phones to Android 13, it is now releasing a new security update to the series. According to the release notes, the update contains 67 vulnerabilities, related to Android and an additional 26 to Samsung phones.

Galaxy S20 gets 63 higher-priority improvements

The South Korean tech giant has already started to release the new security update to the Galaxy flagships from 2020 across Europe. Now the Galaxy S20 gets the latest security updates with firmware version G98xBXXSFGVK7.

The new SMR (security maintenance release) comes with 67 vulnerabilities, 63 being of a higher priority. According to Samsung’s announcements, the phone series should get 3 major Android updates and 4 years of security patches, so the phone should be updated until 2024. Samsung also explained in its release notes that the update prevents unwanted access to call management, user messages, and the settings app in general.

The new update is now available in several countries including the UK, Portugal, and more Europe countries. However, there is no official announcement on when the update will become available in the United States. We can predict that the brand should release the update in the US by the end of the year.
