At the beginning of this year, Samsung brought artificial intelligence phone innovation to the industry with the Samsung Galaxy S24 family, while other brands such as Apple rolled up their sleeves for artificial intelligence. While the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra was loved for its artificial intelligence, users were uncomfortable with the design that they claimed hurt their hands and started waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S25 family. The latest leaks suggest that the new series will receive updates until the end of its life.
Samsung Galaxy S25 series can receive unlimited updates
Apple offers 5 years of update support for its phones from the year of release and then does not provide software support after occasional security updates. The same is true for Samsung. Samsung announced a few years ago that it would provide 7 years of update support from the release date of the phones. But according to the latest claims, the company is changing this situation with the new Galaxy S25 series.
With the new Samsung Galaxy S25 series, it is claimed that the update policy will be for the life of the phone, not limited to 7 years. According to this situation, Samsung will support up to the last compatible Android update for the phone and then continue to release continuous security patch updates for the phone. Updates are expected to be made with the A/B update method. Google unveils the A/B update method in 2016.
According to this method, the new security software is installed on the phone while the existing software is running. The user then completes the update by restarting the phone. However, it is thought that Android updates will be installed manually as it is now. The A/B software update method is not a software situation, but is provided by a hardware installed inside the phone. In other words, a phone cannot be given A/B software support with software later. Samsung comes with A/B update support on the Samsung Galaxy A55, which was released earlier this year.
