Samsung Galaxy S27 Will Be Powered by 2nm Snapdragon Processors

Critical details have come to light about the next-generation processors that will be at the heart of the Galaxy S27 series, which Samsung plans to introduce early next year. It is claimed that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Gen 6 Pro chipsets developed by Qualcomm will come to life with TSMC’s advanced 2nm production technology.

According to leaked information, these new processors aim to redefine the standards in the smartphone market in terms of both performance and efficiency. Samsung aims to maintain its competitive power in the global market by using these Snapdragon chips or its own production Exynos 2700 units on a regional and model basis in the Galaxy S27 models.

TSMC 2nm Technology is Being Used in New Snapdragon Processors

Qualcomm’s new monsters, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Gen 6 Pro, are preparing to shake things up in the mobile world. According to leaks, both chipsets will come off TSMC’s newest 2nm production line.

While the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 model comes with the SM8950 model number, the Pro variant is identified as SM8975. Both processors will have an octa-core structure consisting of two prime cores, three high-performance cores, and three efficiency cores. However, the standard model is expected to run at lower clock speeds compared to the Pro version.

Technical Performance Differences Between Processors Become Apparent

There are also significant divergences between the two models on the memory and graphics side. While the Pro model is expected to come with the Adreno 850 GPU and 18MB graphics cache, the standard model will use the Adreno 845 GPU and 12MB graphics cache. In addition, the Pro variant will reach a new level in data processing speed by offering four-channel 24-bit LPDDR6 memory support.

The standard version will highly likely remain limited to LPDDR5X RAM support. On the connectivity features side, both processors will support mmWave and sub-6GHz networks thanks to their integrated 5G modems. Current technologies such as Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and NFC will be offered as standard. While 10Gbps data transfer speeds via USB Type-C will become possible, the newest UFS 5.0 technology will be preferred as the storage unit.

Regional Processor Distribution Continues in the Galaxy S27 Series

Samsung’s traditional processor strategy will make its presence felt in the Galaxy S27 series as well. The Galaxy S27 and S27+ models will highly likely come with Samsung’s own production 2nm architecture Exynos 2700 in markets outside of America, China, and Canada. However, the use of Snapdragon variants is planned in these three strategic regions.

It is foreseen that the Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra models, representing the highest segment of the series, will be offered for sale with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro worldwide without any distinction. The Galaxy S27 Ultra model will meet users with the most powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor in all markets. The issue of whether Qualcomm will completely turn to TSMC for production or establish a partnership with Samsung Foundry still remains uncertain. Although some reports state that Samsung might also be included in the production process, current data shows that TSMC is in the foreground.
