Samsung has revealed that the US Food and Drug Administration has approved the Health Monitor app’s irregular heart rhythm notification (IHGN) feature for Galaxy Watch devices. Along with the Galaxy Watch’s electrocardiogram (ECG) capabilities, the feature can help to identify signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib), a type of arrhythmia. When Sensor detects the irregular heart rhythms the device warns its users to see a doctor.

AFib is widely believed to be an indicator of potentially major cardiovascular issues that can lead to an increased risk of stroke, heart failure, and other complications. So, it is crucial. With this new approved feature users can now have better health tracks. As you know, early diagnosis is very important in diseases, especially heart diseases.
After the user activates the function in the Samsung Health Monitor App, The Galaxy Watch’s Bioactive Sensor will look for irregular heart rhythms in the background. If the sensor calculates several irregular measurements consecutively, the device will alert. It will suggest that the user should take an ECG reading for more accurate results.
Samsung says that the availability of its IHGN feature will depend on the market, carrier, model, and the paired smartphone. Samsung will include the IHGN feature in the One UI 5 Watch update. It will first be available on the Galaxy Watch 6 devices. This lineup will arrive later this year. Owners of the Galaxy Watch 4 series and later models will have access to the feature later. One UI 5 Watch will also introduce new sleep monitoring functions and a personalized heart rate zone feature for workouts.

- Galaxy Watch 6 40mm: 1.31 inch 432×432 pixels
