Samsung has announced that it will produce 2nm semiconductor chips and provide advanced packaging services for the Japanese artificial intelligence firm Preferred Networks. Samsung Foundry has secured its first customer for the production of 2nm chips. Preferred Networks is currently pursuing high computational power hardware for productive AI models, and they will utilize chips manufactured by Samsung Foundry. The chip design is being handled by GaonChips, a renowned semiconductor chip design firm.

Samsung will employ advanced 2.5D packaging technology called I-Cube S (Interposer-Cube S) for the 2nm chips. The renowned company previously became the world’s first to mass-produce 3nm chips.
