Samsung, a leading player in the smartphone market, has recently revamped its update policy. The South Korean manufacturer has committed to providing seven years of software support for its flagship models, starting with the Galaxy S24, and six years for mid-range devices like the Galaxy A16 5G. But which Samsung models are set to receive seven years of updates?
Samsung Models Receiving Seven Years of Updates
In January 2024, Samsung announced its new update policy alongside the launch of the Galaxy S24 series. All three Galaxy S24 models are now promised seven years of Android, One UI, and security updates, meaning they’ll be eligible for upgrades up to Android 21, expected to debut in 2030. Additionally, these devices will continue receiving security and One UI patches throughout this period.
However, it’s not limited to the Galaxy S24 series. Samsung’s future flagship models will also benefit from this extended update policy. The devices set to receive seven years of support are:
- Galaxy S24 Ultra
- Galaxy S24+
- Galaxy S24
- Galaxy S24 FE
- Galaxy Z Fold 6
- Galaxy Z Flip 6
- Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition
- Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra
- Galaxy Tab S10+
- W25 (Though new, as a flagship model, it’s expected to receive seven years of support)
- W25 Flip (Also new and expected to receive seven years of support as a flagship)
