Apple has already released its most powerful processor yet with the iPhone 15 this year. In response, Samsung is gearing up to make a move. The tech giant is working on the Exynos 2500 processor, which will even rival the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
What can we expect from the Samsung Exynos 2500?
Samsung plans to continue using its “dual processor” system in the 2025 Galaxy S25 flagship series. Looking back, Samsung did not release the Exynos 2300 processor in 2023, and the Exynos 2200 was not a good option for Samsung’s 2023 flagship phones.
All models of the Galaxy S23 series, including the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra, were equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This year, Samsung had the Exynos 2400, and the company took advantage of it by powering its Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ with this processor in most markets outside the US and China (where only Snapdragon was used).
When we look at the best of the S24 series, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, it is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor in all regions. Considering this, Samsung has started testing the Exynos 2500 processor for next year’s Galaxy S25 flagship series.
It is reported that the Exynos 2500 is performing well against the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor in terms of CPU and GPU. However, the chip that the Exynos 2500 will face next year will be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Samsung will need to make some changes to the chip’s packaging to make it more resistant to heat, as this has been a subject of criticism by users.
Additionally, this is significant because the Exynos 2500, like its predecessor, has 10 CPU cores. It may also support LPDDR5T RAM. If the necessary adjustments are made to the Exynos 2500, Samsung’s new processor could be more competitive against the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
