Samsung has begun testing 8.5, the new version of its user interface, One UI. These tests were first seen on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. One UI 8.5 is expected to be based on Android 16 and be released alongside the Galaxy S26 series.
One UI 8.5 is officially coming
Samsung recently rolled out the stable One UI 8 update to the Galaxy S25 series. However, a new One UI 8.5 test version for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, codenamed S938BXXU5CYIA/S938BOXM5CYIA, has surfaced on the company’s servers.
This update is currently unavailable for download. Samsung has restricted user access to the test software. This indicates that the company has entered a significant phase in the development of the new software.
According to leaked information, One UI 8.5 will be first announced alongside the Galaxy S26 series. It will then be gradually rolled out to other compatible models, starting with the Galaxy S25 series. This timeline suggests that S25 users could get their hands on the new interface a few months after the S26 series launches.
The features of One UI 8.5 are not yet clear. However, this update is expected to expand Galaxy AI integration and improve overall performance. Rather than major design changes, minor tweaks to the widget and icon layout are also likely.
