One UI 5.0 coming to Samsung Galaxy S22 series

Samsung shared the news about its One UI 5 firmware at the Samsung Developer Conference 2022. The conference was held on October 12, 2022. The conference’s main subject was unveiling new Samsung software, services, and platforms shaping the future of customer experiences. According to the company, One UI 5 will start rolling out to smartphones in the Galaxy S22 series later this month.

What One UI 5 offers to users

Samsung One UI 5, based on Android 13, brings new features, like deeper Material You integration, improved Dynamic theming, and a new Dynamic lock screen. In addition, improved widget stacking and multi-user support for the first time ever on Samsung. Also, new clever multitasking gestures – double swipe from the bottom for a quick split-screen and swipe from the top right corner for pop-up view, text recognition in the Gallery, a Privacy Hub, and more.

Another new feature in One UI 5 is integration with smartwatches in the Galaxy Watch series. Samsung is making the Privileged Health SDK available in the update. Which will allow developers to use the BioActive sensor on Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 5 smartwatches.

Which Samsung smartphones will get the update

The Galaxy S22 series will be the first model to receive the OneUI 5 update by the end of October. But of course other models will get the update respectively. According to the conference before the end of 2023.

In addition, Samsung will also reportedly update the mid-range Galaxy A53 to Android 13 before the end of the year.
