A report has argued that upcoming Samsung Galaxy A54, A34, and A24 models will have one less camera. Although it may seem bad that these future models will have one less camera, it is not the case. We may see more powerful cameras.
Removing the depth sensor could be good news for price
The Elec claims that the Galaxy A54, A34, and A24 phones will not have a depth sensor. This is good news. We know the depth sensor helps with portrait shots. However, its lack does not seriously affect camera performance.
If Samsung had removed the depth sensor and left the devices as they were, we could say it was bad news. However, according to the report, the company will focus on developing the main cameras. The money saved on the depth sensor will be spent on developing other lenses or sensors.
Samsung Galaxy A54 will have a 50 Megapixel primary camera, a 5 Megapixel ultra-wide one, and a 5 Megapixel macro one, while the Galaxy A34 is said to have a 48 Megapixel primary camera, 8 Megapixel ultra-wide, and a 5 Megapixel macro. Finally, the Galaxy A24 will supposedly get a 50 Megapixel primary camera, an 8 Megapixel ultra-wide, and a 5 Megapixel macro. When we look at it on paper, we see that the Galaxy A24 has a better megapixel than the Galaxy A54. This shows us that megapixels are not everything.
Besides camera improvement, removing the depth sensor can reduce the costs. In this case, we do not know whether Samsung will reflect this cost reduction on the price tags.
Samsung Galaxy A54, A34, and A24 release date
The A34 is said to launch in March and the A54 in April. No exact release date is known for the A24. We saw the Galaxy A23 in March this year. Therefore, we may see a promotion for the A24 in March 2023.
