Every month, security updates for Android phones are first released by Google, and this month is no exception. Samsung has also shared details for the September 2024 update, which includes a new plan for the Galaxy Note 20. Here are the details of Samsung’s September 2024 security update and the new plan for the Note 20:
Samsung’s September 2024 Update Addresses Multiple Vulnerabilities
Although the update has not yet been rolled out to any devices, it is expected to be available soon. The update follows a recent release for Google Pixel devices and has now been announced by Samsung.
The update notes indicate that Samsung’s September 2024 update fixes 67 security vulnerabilities present in the previous software version. Out of these, 44 vulnerabilities are from Google, and 23 are additional issues specific to Samsung devices. Among these vulnerabilities, one is critical, and 32 are marked as high priority, affecting OneUI features such as Dex, Knox, Theme Center, and other applications.
New Update Schedule for Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Series
Starting from September 2024, the Galaxy Note 20 series will be removed from the monthly update list and will now receive updates quarterly. The Galaxy Note 20, launched in 2020 with Android 10, has reached the end of its three-year Android update period and will not receive One UI 6.0, One UI 6.1, or newer versions.
However, the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 20 5G, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G will transition to a quarterly update schedule. While updates will be less frequent, the devices are expected to continue operating smoothly.
