Samsung has officially announced the date for the event where it will unveil its first mixed reality headset, codenamed “Project Moohan,” which has been a hot topic in technology news for a long time. The company will share all the details about the device at its new “Worlds Wide Open” Galaxy event, which will be held next week on October 22nd at 5:00 a.m. Turkish time.
Project Moohan will be unveiled
The new headset, to be unveiled, runs on the Android XR platform, developed in collaboration with Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm. This platform aims to deliver a new mixed reality ecosystem scalable across different form factors by placing artificial intelligence at the center of the user experience.
Samsung emphasizes that Android XR offers an open and flexible architecture across both hardware and software, creating a wide range of applications for developers and manufacturers.
The company describes Moohan as “the first product designed specifically for Android XR.” According to Samsung, this headset will unleash the true potential of mixed reality by combining everyday functionality with immersive virtual experiences.
Samsung stated, “Project Moohan is the first groundbreaking product developed for the open and scalable Android XR platform, seamlessly integrating everyday use with immersive new experiences.” The final product is not expected to be called Project Moohan; “Galaxy XR” is a potential option.
The first prototypes of the Android XR project were introduced to a limited group of users in late 2024 and showcased at MWC 2025. Now, the final product is approaching. The timing of this event is also noteworthy, as Apple is reportedly preparing to unveil its new Vision Pro model, featuring a faster chip.
