Samsung is bringing Instant Slow-mo, one of the most important features of the Galaxy S24 series, to some of its older flagship smartphones and tablets. The South Korean tech giant said that Instant Slow-mo will make its way out of the Galaxy S24 via an upcoming One UI update.
AI slow-mo (Instant Slow-mo) is spreading to Samsung phones
Instant Slow-mo automatically identifies scenes in videos that are suitable for slow-mo and instantly converts them to slow-mo. Using artificial intelligence and machine learning, the camera feature makes it much more practical for users. Thanks to Instant Slow-mo, slow motion can be achieved without having to record in slow motion mode.
This feature was first made available for Galaxy S24 series devices. However, Samsung announced that it will also be available for the Galaxy S23 Ultra, S23 Plus, S23, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, Tab S9 Ultra, Tab S9 Plus and Tab S9.
Samsung also said that Instant Slow-mo will gain compatibility for more video formats and resolutions with an update coming in the coming days. Currently, it only supports processing 8-bit 720p to 8K videos in MP4 format. However, the company says it will also support 10-bit videos, 480p resolution and MOV files.
The AI-powered feature requires a flagship-class chipset to process the video. Samsung confirmed that it will be available for devices with at least Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or equivalent Exynos chipset.
The update with Instant Slow-mo is expected to be released with One UI 6.1 in the first half of 2024.
