Samsung has updated the beta version of its internet browser, introducing a new feature that simplifies tab management. With this new feature, available in beta version 29.0.0.27, unused tabs can now be automatically closed after a certain period of time.
Samsung’s internet browser gains new features
In the new update, an option called Auto-Close Settings has been added to the tab management menu. This setting allows tabs left open for extended periods to automatically close after user-defined intervals. This feature is disabled by default, but users can adjust it using three different options.
The first option for auto-close is “Never,” which completely disables auto-close. The other two options allow tabs to be automatically closed after 7 or 30 days of inactivity. Additionally, an option called “Smart Tab Management” is also available. When this mode is enabled, the browser closes a tab as soon as it detects that it is no longer being used.
The new feature is designed specifically for users who keep numerous tabs open simultaneously and often forget when to open them. It’s well known that having tabs open in the background can negatively impact device performance, increase RAM usage, and cause browser slowdowns. Samsung’s automation aims to both improve browser performance and simplify the user experience.
The automatic tab closing feature will provide a more stable browsing experience, especially on entry-level phones or those with limited memory. This new feature of the Samsung Internet browser is currently being tested in beta and is expected to be integrated into the stable version soon.
