Samsung’s move towards an agreement with MediaTek after the Qualcomm-Samsung deal!

Ana sayfa / Processor

Samsung has decided to extend its existing agreement with Qualcomm for flagship models. This practically confirms the presence of Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in the Galaxy S25 family. However, the high cost of Qualcomm processors is encouraging Samsung to explore MediaTek as an alternative. According to a leak, Samsung may sign an agreement with MediaTek for Dimensity processors.

While the Qualcomm agreement is significant, Samsung does not want to use Qualcomm for its upper mid-range phones. The main reason is the cost of Qualcomm processors, which can reach up to $200. It is claimed that this situation, which raises smartphone costs, will increase further with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

In this regard, Samsung is aiming to reduce these costs with Exynos processors. However, there are doubts among users about the performance of Exynos processors. MediaTek, with its Dimensity processors that have gained prominence in the last two years, aims to address this concern.

According to the leaked information, Samsung is evaluating the offer from MediaTek. It is rumored that the South Korean tech giant is comparing the processor production costs with MediaTek’s offer. With the collaboration with AMD for the graphics unit, Exynos processors have become competitive in the flagship segment. However, both MediaTek and Qualcomm have competitive processors in the mid and upper mid-range.

Which processor will the Galaxy S25 come with? Agreement signed

Samsung signed an agreement for the Galaxy S25 processor. Accordingly, the processor partner for the S25 has been determined.

MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300, 8300, and 8300 Ultra processors have significant performance values. Xiaomi’s use of MediaTek in important models this year is also increasing the company’s market share. MediaTek aims to reach a much broader market with Samsung.

As you know, although Samsung has lost its throne, it is currently the largest Android manufacturer in terms of smartphone shipments. MediaTek already collaborates with Samsung in entry and some mid-range models. However, the company’s main goal is to secure agreements for the upper mid-range and even flagship levels if possible.

Despite all this, Samsung may choose to use Exynos 1380 in upper mid-range models like the Samsung A55. In this sense, the cost per processor for MediaTek is also a point of curiosity.
