The launch date for Samsung’s first XR headset, which it has been working on for a long time, has been made official. The company will introduce the extended reality device it developed under the code name “Project Moohan” at a special Unpacked event to be held on September 29, 2025. The device will go on sale on October 13.
Samsung’s XR headset will be introduced
A first look at the XR headset will be presented along with the foldable models Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 at another event to be held in July. At this event, the first information about the design and technical capacity of the headset will be shared along with prototypes and promotional videos.
The company includes Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor in the XR headset. The device is also equipped with 16 GB of RAM and has a dual Micro OLED screen with a high refresh rate. The headset uses the Android XR operating system developed in collaboration with Google.
In this way, full support is provided for Android-based applications, while some Samsung and Google applications work with versions adapted to the XR environment. The system also works integrated with Samsung’s Galaxy AI platform. Thanks to AI-supported analysis, user movements on the screen are tracked, accelerating content production, navigation and other processes.
Competition in the sector remains intense. While Apple’s Vision Pro model has been criticized for its lack of content, Meta’s more affordable Quest 3S headset held 84 percent of the market in the last quarter of 2024.
It is not yet clear what kind of pricing strategy Samsung will follow in this environment. So what do you think about this device? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
