Sdkeboost conversion kit makes e-bike upgrades simple and cheap

Ana sayfa / Electric Vehicles

The Sdkeboost e-bike conversion kit lets you take your existing bicycle and turn it electric without draining your wallet or needing a new frame.

Unlike full-fledged e-bikes, Sdkeboost takes a more accessible approach. It weighs just 3.8 kg and delivers 700 watts of rear-wheel power by mounting directly onto the seat stay bridge. That makes it compatible with many but not all bike designs.

The EU version sticks to the 25 km/h electric assist limit, keeping it street-legal in most regions. There’s a cruise mode tucked in too, though it may step outside legal bounds depending on where you ride.

Work-life balance controversy deepens in Silicon Valley

Silicon Valley's obsession with brutal work hours hits again, as xAI staff boast about 36-hour marathons while Musk laughs it off.

There’s no pretending this kit fits every frame out there. It won’t install on bikes with V-brakes or seat stays that use a single solid tube. Instead, your frame needs:

While the motor design is basic, it grips the tyre directly to drive the wheel, it works efficiently. That said, tyre wear may increase over time with this setup.

At $339 for early supporters, Sdkeboost undercuts most mid-range e-bikes by a wide margin. It’s ideal for riders who already have a reliable frame and want electric assistance without replacing their entire bike. The promised range clocks in at 80 km per charge, assuming typical conditions.

Still, the product is currently crowdfunded. That means delays, design changes, or outright cancellations are always on the table. If you’re not comfortable with that level of risk, this probably isn’t your moment.

E-bikes can be expensive, overbuilt, or too complicated. Sdkeboost offers a different take: reuse the bike you love and plug in just enough tech to help with the hills. It’s not perfect, but for the price, it hits a nerve.
