There was a development that will upset Call of Duty Warzone players. According to the latest announcement, the major content update planned for the second season of the game has been cancelled. The decision was made to prioritise fixing the game’s technical issues.
What should players expect in the new season?
Under normal circumstances, Verdansk, one of the classic maps, was expected to return in the new season. However, Activision announced in a community update for Call of Duty Warzone and Black Ops 6 that they will focus on fixing the game’s core issues rather than adding new content.
Warzone’s second season will launch on 28 January 2025 without major content additions. However, this does not mean that the game will remain exactly the same.
The development team will make many technical updates to improve the player experience in the second season:
- The reload speed of all weapons will be increased.
- Sprint to fire transition time will be improved.
- Inconsistent bullet passage through walls will be fixed.
- Weapon switching speed will be increased by 10%.
- Semi-automatic and explosive weapons will be removed from dropped loot.
- Parachute cutting animation will be accelerated.
- Sound fixes will be made to make steps, ropes and parachute opening sounds clearer.
- The advanced UAV will now also show players’ altitude levels.
Although the prioritisation of fixing in-game bugs is seen as a positive step by some players, the cancellation of new maps and game modes has created disappointment in the community…
Will Verdansk return?
The return of Verdansk, one of Warzone’s most beloved maps, seems to have been shelved, at least for this season. Players are eagerly waiting to see if Activision will return to nostalgic maps in future seasons.
