Shelly has quietly rolled out a new smart home control hub, the Wall Display X2i, in select European markets. This upgraded panel replaces the earlier X2 model and brings improved performance, gesture control, and support for energy monitoring all in a familiar wall-mounted design.
Wall Display X2i gets CPU upgrade and new features
At first glance, the X2i looks a lot like its predecessor. It features the same 6.95-inch 1440 x 720 touchscreen, capable of horizontal or vertical wall mounting. But under the hood, Shelly has replaced the older Unisoc SC7731E chip with the more capable Rockchip RK3326-S a quad-core Cortex-A35 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz.
The jump in performance should translate to smoother operation when controlling smart home devices, navigating the interface, or viewing power consumption data from compatible Shelly PM devices.
Smart interaction with sensors and gesture control
Shelly has added a gesture sensor to the X2i, allowing for touchless interaction. Users can now wave or swipe to control the interface without physically tapping the screen ideal for situations like kitchen use or mounting near entrances.
A LUX sensor automatically adjusts screen brightness based on ambient light, while a small 0.8W speaker handles alerts or audio feedback. The panel connects via Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 6, offering fast and stable connectivity across smart home environments.
Here’s what’s new or improved on the Wall Display X2i:
- Faster Rockchip RK3326-S CPU (Quad-core Cortex-A35, 1.5GHz)
- Gesture sensor for touchless control
- Wi-Fi 6 dual-band support
- LUX sensor for auto-brightness
- Power monitoring for Shelly PM devices
- Swappable power base with one-circuit output
- 6.95-inch 1440 x 720 capacitive touchscreen
- Home Assistant and Shelly Smart Control compatibility
Price, availability, and color options
The Wall Display X2i is now available from Shelly’s European store for €199.53. Only the silver version is in stock currently, with the black model marked as unavailable. No global release date has been confirmed yet, so for now, this upgrade remains exclusive to Europe.
Shelly hasn’t made much noise about the launch, but with solid hardware tweaks and better integration potential, the X2i looks like a worthwhile step forward for smart home users who prefer wall-mounted control hubs.
