Oppo is preparing to cancel its line of vertically folding smartphones, according to a new report. It is stated that the device to be called Oppo Find N5 Flip will not be released.
Oppo Find N5 Flip canceled
Oppo has reportedly pulled the plug on the Find N5 Flip, which was supposed to be a top version of last year’s Find N3 Flip. The reason for the cancellation is unclear, but it’s likely due to disappointing sales of previous Oppo phones.
The foldable market is still in the early stages of growth and development. This makes Oppo’s cancellation even more intriguing. However, Oppo seems to be shifting its production to standard horizontal foldable products instead of next-generation foldable models.
Oppo Find N5, which folds to tablet size like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series, is still in development. It is rumored that the Find N5 will be released worldwide and will even be Oppo’s first foldable device sold globally.
Reportedly, the Find N5 will be launched alongside the OnePlus 10 Ultra. The relationship between the two brands with differently named devices will also continue.
The cancellation of the Find N5 Flip means that Oppo will be left out of the foldable phone market dominated by Samsung. Competitors like Xiaomi and vivo are also keeping their vertically foldable models limited to China for now.
