Qualcomm introduced a premium chipset: Snapdragon 782G

While a few weeks passed after the announcement of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, Qualcomm announced a new premium mid-range smartphone chipset. Although the new Snapdragon 782G comes with a few minor improvements, the brand claims that new chipset’s performance is 5% better than the Snapdragon 778G+. Here are the details about Snapdragon 782G.

Snapdragon 782G is an affordable premium mid-range chipset

Qualcomm’s new chipset 782G is designed to be used in affordable high-end and premium mid-range smartphones. According to the claims, the new chipset will replace the Snapdragon 778G+. In fact, Snapdragon 782G comes with a minor improvement over the 778G+. Both chipsets use the same fabrication process (TSMC 6nm) and the same specs in terms of CPU and GPU.

The CPU of new chipset features one Cortex-A78 (Kryo 670 Prime) core clocked at 2.7GHz, three Cortex-A78 (Kryo 670 Gold) cores clocked at 2.2GHz, and four Cortex-A55 (Kryo 670 Silver) cores clocked at 1.9GHz.

According to the brand’s announcement, the CPU performance is 5% better than the Snapdragon 778G+. The new chipset has the Adreno 642L GPU which is 10% more powerful than the predecessor chipset, Qualcomm claims. While the Snapdragon 782G supports Full HD+ at 144Hz and 4K at 60Hz, it also supports up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

Additionally, the Snapdragon 782G comes with support for 3D Sonic fingerprint reading sensors, Quick Charge 4+, aptX Adaptive audio codec, and 90FPS burst capture of 12-Megapixel images. Also, the integrated Snapdragon X53 modem allows the device to have the mmWave and sub-6GHz 5G connectivity features. The chipset has also a few more connectivity features including GPS, GLONASS, NavIC, Beidou, GPS, QZSS, Galileo, Wi-Fi 6/6E, Bluetooth 5.2 (with LE Audio), NFC, and USB 3.1 Type-C.
