ASUS is gearing up to release the gaming-focused ROG Phone 8. The design of the smartphone has been revealed alongside its announcement date, which was previously known, and its performance in benchmark tests.

Compared to its predecessor, the ASUS ROG Phone 8 will feature sharper and more angular frames. Additionally, the back panel showcases a dual-tone color design, with lighter and darker shades of gray and black.

The device sports a square camera module in the bottom right corner, featuring a trio of cameras—a large one with yet-to-be-disclosed resolution, along with two smaller auxiliary sensors. Details such as the RGB logo suggest the device’s gaming-oriented focus.

The ROG Phone 8 series recently appeared on the Geekbench database with model numbers AI2401_D and AI2401_A. According to the benchmarks, the standard model achieved scores of 2,213 in single-core tests and 7,048 in multi-core tests. The Pro model scored 2,271 and 7,360 in the same tests, respectively.

Examining the Geekbench database, it’s evident that the phones will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. Qualcomm continues its collaboration with TSMC for the new processor, manufactured using 4nm technology. The processor includes one 3.3 GHz ARM Cortex-X4 core, three 3.2 GHz ARM Cortex-A720 cores, two 3.0 GHz ARM Cortex-A720 cores, and two 2.3 GHz ARM Cortex-A520 cores. The chipset also features the Adreno 750 graphics unit with Ray Tracing support.

Another detail revealed in the performance tests is the RAM capacity of the devices. The standard model is equipped with 16 GB of RAM, while the Pro model boasts 24 GB. It’s worth noting that additional RAM and storage options are possible. Finally, both devices will run Android 14. The ASUS ROG Phone 8 series is set to be unveiled on January 16th.
