Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 vs Dimensity 9400: Which is better?

Ana sayfa / News

The year 2025 looks set to witness a fierce competition in the world of mobile processors. Qualcomm and MediaTek, two giants who have raised the performance bar in mobile devices, are preparing to compete with their new generation processors. Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400 will come out with features that promise high performance and energy efficiency.

The biggest innovation in Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is that Qualcomm has started using Nuvia technology. So, what does this mean? In fact, it means that Qualcomm has stopped using ARM’s standard designs.

Instead, it aims to offer a more personalized performance with special cores developed by Nuvia. Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be able to reach speeds of up to 4.32 GHz with two Phoenix L cores, accompanied by six Phoenix M cores. This will provide full power to the devices by operating at 3.53 GHz. On the graphics side, the Adreno 830 GPU will take charge.

On the other hand, MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 processor continues to use traditional ARM designs, but this time it makes things a little more interesting. One Cortex-X5 core will reach a speed of 3.63 GHz, while three Cortex-X4 cores will run at 2.80 GHz. In addition, four lower-power Cortex-A7xx cores will be clocked at 2.1 GHz. On the GPU side, graphics processing performance will be increased by using the Mali-G925 Immortalis MC12.

The adoption of Nuvia technology by Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 can provide a great advantage, especially in terms of single-core operations. However, Dimensity 9400 seems to impress in multi-core performance by offering a balanced structure. In addition, MediaTek aims to provide reliable performance by preserving ARM’s classic designs. Both processors will be produced with TSMC’s 3nm production process, which will provide a significant advantage in terms of energy efficiency.

Both processors are expected to be introduced in October 2024, and it is already a matter of great curiosity which processor will be better between these two giants. Will Qualcomm’s Nuvia technology or MediaTek’s balance-focused ARM design prevail?
