Early benchmarks of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 have surfaced, offering a clearer look at Qualcomm’s upcoming chip before its official launch. Found inside the OnePlus Ace 6T, this processor appears to deliver impressive results especially in CPU performance.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 beats expectations in key benchmarks
Qualcomm plans to reveal the chip on November 26. It sits just below the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the lineup. Even so, new test results suggest it outperforms the Elite in some areas.
The chip showed strong results in Geekbench. It matched the Elite in single-core tests and beat it in multi-core performance. That puts it close to flagship territory without carrying the same premium price.
OnePlus Ace 6T packs serious specs to match the chip
The benchmarked device, OnePlus Ace 6T, came equipped with top-tier specs. It features:
- A 165 Hz display
- 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM
- 1 TB UFS 4.1 storage
Paired with this hardware, the chip scored just over 3.5 million on AnTuTu V11. That’s below the 4 million points hit by Elite Gen 5 flagships but still strong. It also scored higher than the Elite in CPU, memory, and UX categories.
Balanced performance makes Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 stand out
It uses an Adreno 840 GPU. While it doesn’t top the Elite in graphics power, it outperforms older models like the Adreno 830. Most users will still enjoy fast, smooth visuals especially with a high-refresh display.
Its CPU and memory handling seem tuned for balance, not brute force. That could make it ideal for devices aiming to perform well without overheating or draining battery life too quickly.
OnePlus Ace 6T could lead the launch for Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
OnePlus and Vivo both plan to launch phones with this chip before the end of 2025. The Ace 6T might be the first to hit shelves. Based on these early results, it’s shaping up to be a strong upper-midrange device.
