ARM CEO: We will account for 50 percent of the Windows market by 2029
ARM CEO Rene Haas claimed that ARM-based chips will account for more than 50 percent of the Windows market in the next five years. In his statement, CEO Haas said that ARM chips strike the right balance in terms of performance, power efficiency and acceleration.
In this context, he did not forget to target Intel. He stated that Intel and AMD, which dominate Windows computers, will have a serious advantage over x86 processors. Arm-based computer processors are led by Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite and Plus.
Unlike Intel and AMD, which rely on just two manufacturers, the ARM ecosystem is made up of multiple manufacturers producing chips at different performance and price points. Companies like Qualcomm, MediaTek and Samsung make ARM-based processors for laptops and portable computers.
Microsoft is currently preparing to usher in the Copilot+ PC era with Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus. Microsoft, which wants to bring artificial intelligence-based computers to the forefront, is also developing an ARM-based Surface series.
ARM’s future in Windows poses a new threat to Intel and AMD’s dominance. To compete, Intel says it is opening the door to artificial intelligence with Lunar Lake. It also claims that ARM chips deliver better performance per watt.
