Snapdragon X reaches unexpected usage in the first month!

Qualcomm has launched its first Snapdragon X series processors, the Snapdragon X Elite. The new chips for laptops were introduced alongside the Copilot+ solution, which plans to integrate AI operations into Windows devices. The adoption rate of the Snapdragon X series peaked in the first month.

Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus models stood out with their support for the Microsoft Copilot+ tool. It was supported by many manufacturers, especially the Microsoft Surface family. However, some artificial intelligence features were removed after the launch.

Data from Geekbench showed that more than 81,000 tests were performed worldwide last month. Of these, 6.5 percent were Snapdragon X-based devices. While this is considerably lower than Intel and AMD, it is quite significant for Qualcomm, a new entrant in the laptop market.

For example, the Windows Recall feature developed to customize the AI experience was canceled due to privacy concerns. It also had optimization issues in various Windows applications because it is ARM-based.

The integrated GPU in the Snapdragon X series showed weaker performance compared to the Intel Arc series. The AI accelerator chip in the processor could not be fully utilized due to Windows restrictions.

In Geekbench 6 and Cinebench 2024 tests, Snapdragon X Elite chips outperform Intel’s Core Ultra 7 155H and AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS processors by 24 percent and 17 percent, respectively.
